Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory - Hours: From 9 a.m. daily - closed
only on Christmas Day.
During the winter months, the butterfly conservatory, five miles north of the
Canadian Horseshoe Falls on the Niagara Parkway is a wonderful escape from the
cold and grey. Located on the grounds of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens,
this huge glass structure is home to a veritable rain forest complete with water
fall and more than 2,000 free-flying butterflies.
There is ample designated parking in the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens parking
lot; all walkways have curb cuts and the butterfly conservatory is totally accessible
except for one small detour area on the walk that takes you around this beautiful
space. The gift shop is accessible and carried a beautiful array of quality
butterfly related items. Accessible washrooms.
If your camera is cold, you'll have to let it warm up before you can take pictures
in this building as it is quite warm all year round.
