The Journey Behind the Falls
In the area right in front of the falls there is Table Rock House and Table
Rock Restaurant (see above and restaurants). Inside the Table Rock House is
the entrance to the Journey Behind the Falls. I've done this several times on
my scooter and it is a wonderful way to see the falls from a different vantage
point and to take pictures. You are given a biodegradable, plastic rain cover,
an elevator takes you down 38 m (125 ft) and a short tunnel (46 m or 150 ft)
gives you access to two outdoor observation decks and two portals behind the
falls. I couldn't access everything but enough to really enjoy this. You can
also read all about the daring feats performed by tightrope walkers during the
19th century out on the viewing platform. If you're going to "do"
the falls right, I'd suggest you do the journey behind the falls as part of
it.
