Number of rooms: 4. One accessible room on ground level. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms with Jacuzzis.

As its name implies, this is a charming 1889 Victorian style home located in a quiet and historical area of Drummond Hill. The world famous Falls are just a 15-minute walk away and it’s just 10 minutes to the new Fallsview Casino. A visit to historic Niagara-on-the-Lake and Shaw Festival is a scenic 20-minute drive along the Niagara Parkway.

Parking is to the left of the entrance with sufficient space for a side-loading vehicle. There is a small lip onto the ramp that takes you onto the large, spacious veranda framed with leafy trelliswork and lush greenery. The veranda is furnished with a settee, table and chairs where guests can enjoy a local “take-out” dinner if they so choose.

After entering from the veranda to the accessible suite, you are in a small hall with the door to the bathroom just six feet in front of you and the opening into the bedroom (no door) on your left. Guests who use a scooter may find it easier to drive into the bathroom, then after the front door is closed reverse back into the entrance hall and swing around into the bedroom. The main door from the veranda is 32” wide, the bathroom door 34” wide and the opening into the bedroom is 39”.

Bedroom: The bedroom is lovely and bright with low windows overlooking the front porch and the parking area and decorated in a soft lavender and white colour scheme with original wood trim and hardwood floors. Furnishings include two queen beds open below, a table and chairs, a five-drawer dresser, and an electric fireplace with a TV on the mantel. An antique trunk between the beds holds a lamp and there is another lamp on the far bedside table. An interesting feature is a large bookcase with a good selection of reading material for all ages. There is a low Instahanger in the closet, reachable for anyone in a seated position to hang clothes.

There is a space of 38” between the beds, 11” from the bed to the one wall and 23” from the other bed to the far wall. From the foot of the bed to the fireplace is a space of 4 feet.

The room has a different configuration according to the season. The fireplace is removed in the summer and the dresser is moved to that wall. There are lovely French doors opening into the white conservatory/dining room that features a window wall overlooking the lush greenery and flowering shrubs in the gardens at the rear of the house. Guests may also be served in the accessible screened-in gazebo or in their room if they wish. The Internet is available in every room.

Bathroom: The bathroom is slim and small and may not allow turning room for wheelchairs or scooters. A scooter goes in frontwards and comes out backwards. A normal sized wheelchair would have miore room. The floor in the bathroom is ceramic tile. On the right as you enter is a counter with a hand mirror and plenty of room for your personal items. The Jacuzzi tub is on your left with a space of 42” between the tub and the counter. There is a half wall at the end of the counter and a space of 38” from the tub to the half wall. A pedestal sink and toilet sit side by side at the far end of the bathroom in an area 52” wide. There is a space of 3 feet from the front of the toilet to the half wall.

The toilet is 15” high with a commode and the sink is 32” high. Plenty of towels are within reach of someone seated. The tub, which has a shower bench, is 16” high with an inside width of 27”; there is a 4 ½” outer lip and a 1 ½” inner lip. A 4-foot grab bar sits along the inside wall with a basket attached to hold soap, shampoo etc. There is a lovely modern handheld showerhead with a 4-foot vertical grab bar on the side. A portable bathtub safety handrail is affixed to the side of the tub.

And as a special service for weary travellers or anyone else feeling a little uptight, on-site spa treatments can be arranged with 24 hours notice.

Breakfast is a choice of six hot entrees, served with a fresh fruit plate and is available from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Bottled water, coffee, tea and hot chocolate are complimentary and specialty coffees are available on request. Special dietary needs are accommodated.
