Huge room 101

Plenty of space to

Number of rooms in the hotel: 185 number of accessible rooms: 1, and if you want big, this room is for you. Room 101 was formerly a suite, with the second room now renovated into a huge bathroom.
Located at the top of the bustling entertainment and dining area of Niagara Falls most famous street, the Comfort Inn is one block from the majestic falls and within walking/rolling distance of dozens of attractions and many more just minutes away. It is located directly behind the world famous Ripleys Believe It or Not museum. The only drawback to this hotel is the fact that if you use a wheelchair or scooter you can only reach the accessible room 101. The design of the hotel is such that, because of steps, you would not be able to even access the lobby and you would need someone to register for you. The hotel is built on a hill and there are steps everywhere. In order to participate in the complimentary continental breakfast, which is offered 365 days a year from 6:30-10:30 a.m., you would need to exit the same way that you came in, and enter through another side door. The same applies if you wish to visit the on-site, full service Kelseys Bar and Grill. Just ask for directions to the accessible entrance to the restaurant. This would work well if the bathroom is really what you need and a larger than average room is necessary. Going outside and round the building to access the restaurant for breakfast isn't ideal but all things considered, and if the weather is good, it isn't a terrible chore.
PARKING: Parking at this hotel is free and there is lots of it, with seven designated spots, well signed, at several locations around the building. To reach the entrance that will take you to Room 101, drive around the hotel to the back parking lot and look for the awning above the door, which reads Rooms 101-141.
ENTRANCE & DOORS: Entry is through two single manual doors that open to the outside. This is a no-smoking floor. The hall is well lit and Room 101 is the last door on the right immediately before the fire door and steps down into the lobby.
ROOM 101: There is no lowered peephole in the door. There is a marble step at the entrance 1/2 high and 6 wide. The door has a lever handle and will stay open allowing for easier access. There is no hallway into this room. Immediately on your left is a small recessed counter/coffee station with a mirror above. A light switch on the wall operates an overhead light. To give you some idea of the size of this room, it is 27 long from the door to the window wall and 134 wide.
There are two queen beds on platforms and a bedside table between the two with phone and clock radio. There is also a pair of wall-mounted extension lamps with push switches. On the wall to the right of the bed is an open closet with high and low racks, but an iron would be too high at 59. Between the bed and the closet are an ottoman and an open plug that would be ideal for charging a battery.
At the foot of the beds is a dresser with a table lamp and a mirror over the dresser. On that same wall is a TV stand with a remote TV. A floor lamp with a push switch stands in the corner. A round table and a pair of tub chairs are located under the window, which opens with a crank handle. The view is of the hotel driveway and street and the hotel next door. It is ot an unpleasant view as there are trees, shrubs and flowers and people and automobiles going by.
Manoeuvring around this room will be a breeze. There is 7 of space from the left side of the beds to the window wall, 55 from the right side of the beds to the closet, almost 3 between the beds and 47 between the foot of the bed and the dresser. A possible problem is the height of the heat/cooling/fan thermostat; at 5 it is barely reachable on a scooter and would be virtually impossible from a wheelchair. If youre using a scooter it could be reached by backing in.

BATHROOM: The light switch for the bathroom is on the wall in the bedroom to the right of the bathroom door. The doorway into the bathroom is 30 wide. The door has a knob handle and stays open. The room is extremely bright and has a nice large window that opens. Starting with the dimensions, it is 8 from the door to the vanity, 106 from the left wall to the window, 59 between the bathtub and the wall, and 35 from the bathtub to the toilet. There are bars everywhere and you could manoeuvre the entire room with something to hold on to using the vanity, bars, toilet, bars and tub.
The vanity is 33 ½ high and 64 long with an angled opening below (see picture). It has one oval sink with lever handle and a long, low mirror. A hair dryer is 52 high with a 36 high plug by the dryer.
The toilet is 17 high including the raised toilet seat, with a 2 horizontal bat at the back and a 2 diagonal on the side.
The bathtub is inset in an 18 high tub surround, with an added 1 ¾ height of the tub. You could sit on the surround, or if you could reach it, you could sit on the edge of the tub, swing your legs in and transfer to a tub bench. The tub is 18 ½ deep and has lever handles set into the tub surround. There is a hand-held showerhead with long hose beginning at tub level, and could be brought down. The showerhead lifts right off. Grab bars on the side and back are 2 with a long L-shaped bar along the window wall into the floor.
This room is one of the largest we have audited, if not the largest, and were told that the hotel gets a lot of requests from able-bodied guests for this room because of its size. Tell them you are disabled when you book. It might help get you this nice large room.
