Number of rooms in hotel: 129 number of accessible rooms: 1
The accessible room is number 421, a no smoking room. Pets are not allowed with the exception of seeing-eye dogs.
The Ramada Coral Resort Hotel is part of a Ramada complex that includes the Ramada Suites Hotel. The two separate hotels are divided by the tree-lined Belmont Avenue but are joined by a glass-enclosed catwalk from the third floor that crosses over Belmont Avenue. The complex is located just off the QEW, which is the main route between the U.S. border and Toronto. It is in the heart of Niagara Falls, just two miles from the brink of the falls and the casino, and in close proximity to Clifton Hill and the entertainment district. And if you love to shop, you can shop till you drop at the Canada One Factory Outlet directly across Lundys Lane from the hotel with dozens of name brand stores.
PARKING: Plenty of designated parking near the entrance and adjacent to it. If you drive a side-loeading van you may have to look around for an end spot to let your ramp down but there is a lot of parking around the hotel and the Ramada Suites adjacent to this hotel.
ENTRANCE & DOORS: The hotel has a covered entrance and a manual double door system with large D-type handles. Luggage carts are in a small foyer between the two doors.
LOBBY: The front desk is 48 high and does not have a lowered section but staff will gladly assist you in registering. The intimate lobby features a fireplace flanked by wing chairs, a small gift shop specializing in Canadiana, and the interior entrance to McIntoshs Country Fare restaurant. However, this restaurant entrance is not accessible as there are steps to navigate. To access the restaurant, wheelchair or scooter users would have to exit the hotel and travel around to the side entrance.
There are low-level pay phones just off the lobby by the elevators. The elevators have nice low buttons but we found that the doors did not stay open very long. We were told management would look into that problem.
Lobby washroom: There is an accessible washroom off the lobby but you would need someone with you to help with the doors when exiting as you have to pull the doors towards you and there is no room to manoeuvre. It has a double door system, which you just push open to enter. The outer washroom area is quite tight for scooter users but the accessible stall is good for either a wheelchair or scooter. There is a D-type pull on the inside of the stall door. The vanity is 31 high, open 23 below, and has a push/pull/twist faucet. The paper towel dispenser is nice and low.
HOTEL HALLS & ROOM ENTRANCES: Once at your floor, the hallways are 66 wide, carpeted and moderately lighted with ceiling pot lights. Vending machines are located near the elevator. The doorway to room 421 is recessed, 32 ½ wide with a lever handle. Entry is with a plastic key card. There is no lower peephole but there is a low safety lock. A light switch 48 high just inside the door on the right operates the hall light.

BEDROOM: The hall leading into the bedroom is 37 wide and has a clothes alcove with ironing board, iron, luggage rack and clothes rack but no lower rack. Next to this alcove is a nice full-length mirror.
The room has two queen beds on platforms. There is a low dresser with a TV, Gameboy, phone with dataport, and a lamp with a push knob. A mirror hangs over the dresser. The remote control for the television sits in a casing attached to the bedside table between the two beds. There is also a clock radio on the night table. Two extension lamps with twist knobs are on the wall above the night table.
The room also has a desk and chair as well as a small table with coffee/tea fixings and two tub chairs. The heat/air unit is attached to the wall 5 high and would not be within reach for someone in a seated position.
This is a nice turnaround room with a distance of more than 16 from the window to the bathroom door, 58 from the foot of the beds to the dresser and 3 between the beds.

BATHROOM: A light switch 43 high on the bedroom wall operates the ceiling light/fan in the bathroom. The bathroom door is 32 wide with a knob handle and opens in and up against the bathtub. There is a space of just 34 from the door to the tub. From the front of the toilet to the opposite wall is a distance of 66. There is 7 ½ from the toilet to the wall and 22 from the toilet to the vanity. The single vanity is 31 ½ high and is open 22 ½ below. It has an oval sink with a push/pull/twist faucet. There is a double plug outlet 44 high and a hair dryer 58 high.
The toilet has a tank and a 2 horizontal grab bar above the toilet tank with a 32 angled grab bar on the wall beside the toilet.
The moulded tub is 18 high and 17 deep. It has a 4 outer lip and an inside lip of 4 ½ at the widest point but it is actually carved to hold a bar of soap. There is a low handheld showerhead that can be draped over a horizontal built-in 15 grab bar (the only grab bar in the tub area). The temperature control is a push/pull/twist type. The hotel has a bath bench available as well as raised toilet seats.
This is a small bathroom with no turnaround room and just 46 at its widest point. Exiting poses a real problem for scooter users.

POOL & PLAY PARK: The hotel has both indoor and outdoor pools as well as a fitness centre. In the summer months you can relax on a chaise lounge in the courtyard area featuring an outdoor heated pool. If you wish to enjoy a swim you may be able to navigate the five steps down into the water on your butt. The outdoor pool closes at 10 p.m. Access to the pool area is with your room key. The hours are 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the indoor pool, which has four steps down into the water and one railing. If you can sit you may be able to bum it down the steps. It should be mentioned that you are also allowed to use the pool in the Ramada Suites but it is not accessible as there are steps to navigate down to the pool area.
Play Park: The children will love the bright and colourful indoor play park featuring a two-storey slide, climbers and the ever-popular ball pit. To access the play park and fitness room you have to sign out a key at the front desk.

CATWALK: As previously mentioned, there is a glass-enclosed catwalk from the third floor, which takes you over Belmont Avenue to the Ramada Suites Hotel next door, where you can enjoy their facilities including dinner at the Ground Round. However, there are steps up to the walkway and a chairlift for guests who are mobility impaired. In order to access the chairlift you need to sign out a key at the front desk which you can keep with you for the duration of your stay.
RESTAURANT: The Ramada complex offers two great on-site dining options McIntoshs Country Fare and The Ground Round -- and is in close proximity to many other well-known eating establishments from fast food to fine dining. The Ramada Coral Resort has McIntoshs Country Fare, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a country inn atmosphere. Hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. from April to October and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the off-season. This is the only on-site restaurant that serves breakfast.
The Ground Round in the Ramada Suites Hotel doesnt serve breakfast but features a full lunch and dinner menu in a casual, comfortable setting (see Ramada Suites write-up).
