SHOPPING

Jordan Village - www.jordanvillage.com - A quiet trip to the past, the entire Jordan area is historical in nature and features antiques shops, galleries, restaurants, wineries, clothing.

Hours: Store hours vary in Jordan Village depending on the time of year and what kind of store it is...family run in a home or in what I call the Jordan Village winery strip. Please call 905-562-3078 or check the Jordan Village Web site for up-to-date hours.

Follow Highway No. 8 to Main Street in Jordan or exit at Jordan Road from QEW.

There's ample parking in the area including a large lot and designated on-street parking. I'd say three-quarters of the shops up and down the Jordan Village main strip are accessible, some with help and some very easy.

There's a washroom in Zooma Zooma Restaurant that is very tight but passable if you can stand. There's also an accessible washroom in On-The-Twenty Restaurant for restaurant patrons.

Shops sell antiques, art, clothing, furniture, home and garden accessories and lovely gifts. This area features many unique items not found elsewhere as small business people seem to have found Jordan Village an ideal place to set up shop and ply one-of-a-kind items.

Everything is ramped, doors are automatic and most shops are accessible. In fact, there is very little at the Pen Centre that is not accessible. If you come in through Winners there is an elevator that takes you up to the main mall, and if you come in any other entrance you have access to all the stores and the elevator down to Winners.

Washrooms are located near the food court and include a larger stall in the main washroom and a separate designated washroom just for people with disabilities in the hallway .

You could easily spend an entire day there (I've done it) as everything you need, including restaurants, a large supermarket, bank machines and the eight-screen Silver City Cinema.
